To his great surprise, the proprietor of a humble Australian website has received a formal letter from The Department of Immigration and Citizenship:
“Values Australia” website
It has come to my attention that a website entitled “Values Australia” veryclosely resembles the layout and formatting of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s (the Department) official website.
I acknowledge that your website expressly states that it is a satire. However, I am very concerned that it gives the appearance of being an officially approved Australian Government website. I am concerned that some of the content may seriously damage Australia’s reputation overseas….. you have a right to express your views about the government, but I consider that the website is potentially misleading and offensive. I request that you remove it immediately.”
The site has a wonderful time taking the piss out of this letter, demonstrating just how ludicrous the claim is. I just wanted to compare the coats of arms which the Department considers to be so similar:

Mindboggling that the department would bother. The people who wrote and authorised this letter are public servants, paid for by us.
There are plenty of very peculiar images on the world’s coats of arms. The El Salvadoreans have a beanie on a stick..

and you can never go past the North Koreans for taste:

That site is so obviously a blog, though – as if DIMIA is going to have Google Ads, for sweet jesus’ sake.
