ping.. a mag

penguin lunchbox
This is a Japanese child’s lunch box prepared by Bento Artist Junko Terashima as a tribute to Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Japo-junkies like me can disappear into Pingmag for a long, long time. I don’t think even the magazine has an equivalent in the West.

For instance…. grannies in Japan wear bellywarmers called Haramaki, which are very very drek. Redesigned by copywriting polymath shigesato-itoi, the bowel bandages are going to take over cold bits of the world.

Meanwhile, Bruce Osborn is photographing parents and children over a long time as a microcosm of intergeneration change and continuity. They are pretty wonderful.

And advertisers in Japan have a gazillion ways to put yet more material into the crowded nag-a-space of the railway.

On and on..
