there ain’t no justice

David Heidelberg\'s gravatarSome days just turn to shit.

Get a piece of news, let yourself think about it….

…. turn to shit..

David Heidelberg can be found all over our blogosphere. He has his own site, and the funny little gravatar I have reproduced here. Lots of times I would think that a comment was engaging and different, a bit quirky, individual, a certain cheeriness and sense of hope, some truculence perhaps.. and I would find his name.

Thinks for himself, knows what he believes, lives out some goodness.

He’s dead.

Of a long illness. All that time with that ensoucient gravatar, that up-and-at-em tone, that living in the moment and its ideas, that willingness to turn something over and consider it afresh, he was apparently sick.

Sick unto death.

Damn, bastard, fuck fuckun….. life turns to shit.

He was born in the USA, was “working part-time supporting children with intellectual disabilities”.

He was born in 1971.

From larvyprod, which is probably a good place for a digital wake.

    Fucken fuck.

he was one of the first people I read regularly on Margo Kingston’s Webdiary – a hybrid forum which alerted me to a thing called blogging…

    RIP David H.

the very fact that the wrong people die, is what confirms my suspicion that there is/are no ‘god/s’.

So many people who cheat lie and steal are still living.

  4. Guy Says:

    Indeed.

Six years older than me … a little scary.

I was very sorry to hear about this when Evil Pundit mentioned it on Blair’s lair the other day. I remembered David most clearly from the brief exchanges we’d had on the blogosphere from time to time. He could be very funny, and not a little cruel, but he also seemed to be a man of great warmth and compassion. I would have liked to have sat down and had a beer with him. Hope he rests in peace.

Helen, I can always be wrong, but the one on Webdiary was Harry Heidelberg, actually a pseudonym for David Davis. I didn’t follow it all that much last year, but when I googled to confirm I found a post at Club Chaos which indicated there was a severe falling out between Harry H and Webdiary, with a rather foulmouthed dump. I also found a post at Surfdom at the time of Margo’s demise where David H was defending Margo and Webdiary against Tim Blair, although David said he didn’t read Webdiary regularly. That about summarises the difference when the chips were down.

But this is a tragedy. A good man cut off in his prime.

Thank you David for your moving words.

All the best for the future.

Brian, I think you might just be right. My bad.
Brownie, that’s why I no longer find “karma” an attractive idea. If it were true, all the bastards wouldn’t be prospering.
