no belladonna backfire

Here is a wonderful and chilling collection of American pharmaceutical ads from a more innocent and controlling era.

“Mabel is unstable. She just can’t help being impatient and exasperating – it’s “that time” in her life. To see her through the menopause, there’s gentle “daytime sedation” in tranquilising BUTISOL SODIUM.”

According to Healthinformatics: “Take Butisol Sodium exactly as your health care provider prescribes. Do not take more of it or take it longer than prescribed. Taking too much may be habit-forming or you may overdose.

For this medicine to prevent seizures, you must take it regularly. If you are taking this medicine to help you sleep, take it 30 to 60 minutes before bedtime.”

It is a suppository.

And I do love this anonymous comment: “i forgot to add “‘nt” to “have” in “there have been” and have should be “has”. i also forgot to add “on the masses” before the first comma. “will” should be “with”. wow, i am too high.”

Ha – she’s subversive. Cooking up a fat filled cholesterol bomb for the hubby. And clever. Holding that suppository in place whilst frying up in old lard I presume. See After Grog Blog.
